WSJ:Rising Diesel Prices 'Ominous' for Truck-Delivered Goods
[Dow Jones Newswires, 14 February 2022] - The US reported 40-year-high inflation rates of 7.5% for
January, and rising oil and fuel prices now threaten to accelerate price
hikes even more as companies pass on transportation-cost increases to
the consumer. The Lundberg Survey reports a 21-cent spike in retail
diesel prices over the past three weeks to $3.91 a gallon, a move it
says is "ominous for near term prices of truck-delivered goods." A year
ago, diesel prices were under $3 a gallon. The US Census Bureau says
trucks transport more than 70% of the value of all goods shipped in the
US. (dan.molinski@wsj.com
